VIRGIL Van Dijk has urged Liverpool to sign his Holland team-mate Matthijs de Ligt.
The 19-year-old has attracted interest from the likes of Barcelona and Manchester City following his sensational spell of form with Ajax.
Van Dijk has declared that he is willing to give Liverpool his opinion about their potential swoop for the youngster.
When asked about De Ligt’s development, Van Dijk told De Telegraaf: “He is already very far, especially at that age.
“A good defender, good boy, calm, knows what he wants and hopefully he makes the right choice in his next step.”
And the former Southampton star confirmed that Jurgen Klopp’s side are already closely monitoring the centre-back.
When questioned if he will join the Reds next, Van Dijk replied: “He will be on the list, because they have good enough scouts at the club.”
But when asked if he would be the best scout, he responded: “No, but if they need my opinion at Liverpool, I’ll give it.”
It was reported that the highly-rated youngster had accepted an invitation to join Italian giants Juventus earlier this month.
And Barcelona were linked with a double swoop for De Ligt and team-mate Frenkie De Jong in a deal worth £115m.
